Since the first implementation, 11 years ago with Bitcoin, blockchains have gradually attracted a lot of attention from academia (in computer science and more recently in economics and finance), from businesses (startups as well as large financial institutions), and also from the general population and the politic world. While the term « blockchain » is getting close to mass-awareness, it is still far from mass-understanding as it can still be confusing. In this presentation I’ll attempt to give a technical overview of blockchains and demystify their core functionalities. I will also present some recent work regarding applications of the Mean Field Game theory to blockchains.
